Description

The Gharial is a critically endangered crocodilian with a distinctive long, narrow snout adapted for fish-eating. It inhabits deep, fast-flowing rivers in the Indian subcontinent and is one of the longest crocodilian species.

Deep, sand-bedded rivers with high fish density — prefers riverine pools and sandy banks for basking and nesting
